Blah Dazical...

During the week I am enjoying the perks of my new job...  Using my brain instead of my muscles and it's a really nice change...  The weekends are completely free for me now.  Instead of sleeping the entire weekend in an attempt to recover from a week worth of night shifts, I am enjoying my relaxation time in front of the keyboard or doing stuff with the kids...

What a change it has been!

I thank God for the privileges I have received in the past month, I could not have done it without a little divine intervention.

The interviewing process itself took over a month to complete, three visits to the board room and one personality profile later I found myself being introduced to a bunch of new people.  The stress was unbelievable!

For the first time in my life I am able to use my skills and aptitude in a team, doing exactly what I want to do.... Hands on at a workbench of my own, building, designing, and helping a team assemble and make pretty, a bunch of electronics ranging from basic switches to complex relay switching boards and controllers that use RS232 serial connections to a computer.

Here is a photo of my new workbench, anyone that knows me knows that this is exactly my kind of habitat...

Damage from Toronto's 5.0 earthquake 2010

I felt woozy, wasn't sure what it was...  Turned out it was an earthquake...

I was in Mississauga at my workplace when it happened...  My wife's Uncle shared a photo showing the devastation that happened in Toronto as a result so I thought I'd share it with you!

Please, for the love of peanut butter, go buy your "I survived the Toronto Earthquake 2010" T-Shirt HERE

Hehehehe, ok well at least I found it funny!

Happy or Sad, which one is it?

Every once in a while, a day or event comes up that should be an extremely happy one.  It was my mom's 69th birthday yesterday June 11th and I'm referring to her natural birthday.  Her 2nd birthday we have reserved for the day she received her double lung transplant,  February 15th.  This brought her A gift that made it possible for her to see more of these natural birthdays...

And so...

After a long stressful first week at a new job I am heading home thinking about the day, thinking about a nice birthday bbq dinner I will prepare with my kids, and just generally enjoying the evening with my mom...  All is well, the dinner is excellent, there's laughter and general time spending etc, then the time comes for the cake...

"I'll go get Nibbles!", my young boy says...  He knows his pet rat is sick and wants him to join in on the fun...  I promptly go to the refrigerator to be ready to present our little friend with some cucumber and just as I pick it up my son comes running into the room screaming. "NIBBLES IS DEAD!"...  My heart sinks as I scoop up my son into my arms... My boy screaming "NO! NO! NO!".

So at least at this point, the birthday cake is a bust...  Having already sang the traditional birthday song to my mom the only thing left to do is pack up the cake and put it in the fridge, uneaten we will try to salvage it on the following day...  We then changed our focus from the birthday, to the back yard where we will bring Nibbles to his final resting spot...

Life is a trip sometimes...
But we will move on, as we always do in our family...  And as a family we will be strong...

Today, I will take nanna and the kids bowling, sounds like fun!

Rest well Nibbles my friend... We will miss you!
